Who, Not How

I’m listening to this audiobook right now (for the 2nd or 3rd time) by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy because the principals that he teaches are just so good, and also so hard for me to implement.

When you’ve been in business for yourself for years, and built your brand and reputation around the service that you personally provide, it can be difficult to let others in, to relinquish control, to trust someone else to provide the same quality of service that your clients have come to know you by.

I’m in a place in my business and my career where I want to be able to help more people. But I know I can’t do that if I’m the one in charge of all aspects of my business. So this year, I have help. And you know what I’ve discovered?! They are actually better than me in some areas. We compliment eachother and my business is better because of them. It’s still scary of course, they can and will make mistakes, we all do. But overall my experience has been good.

The preparers that are helping me have caught things that I wasn’t even aware of, and my assistant has kept my secure file storage and workflows far more organized than I ever did. Together, we are better as a team. I’ve always known that my business would be better with more than just me, but the other hard part about hiring people when you are a solopreneur is that any money you are paying them is basically just coming right out of your own pocket, and you just have to hope and pray that you’ll be able to increase your revenue to cover the additional costs.

That’s where I’m at right now. It’s great having help, and I know it’s making my business better, but right now I’m making less money than I was last year and feel just as tired and stressed.

So my next “who’s” that I’m looking to bring on as part of my team (just in case you know someone, or maybe YOU are reading this and are thinking you’d like to be part of the Casler team) are as follows:

CPA or Licensed Tax Consultant in the State of Oregon with at least 10 years of experience that would like to prepare a specific type of return and specialize in a certain area of tax law that interests and excites you. Also be available to review returns prepared by others and offer insight and advice.

Creative Online Director - This person will oversee all aspects of Casler’s online presence. Ensure that website and social channels are cohesive, easy to find and navigate, and contain valuable content. Serve as a host and facilitator for online webinars and zoom Q & A’s, help edit content and create reels and shorts for Instagram and YouTube, assist with creating and editing mini courses and other content that will be made available for download from our website.

Bookkeeper - someone who is familiar with Quickbooks online and would be comfortable taking over the bookkeeping and invoicing for Casler Financial and Casler Farm (the property management company that my sister and I own in North Idaho). Also available to help with adjusting journal entries for clients, summarizing income and expenses for clients who don’t use bookkeeping software, and helping get them set up with a bookkeeping system going forward.

If any of these speak to you, and you’d be interested in learning more, please send us a message at admin@caslerfinancial.com

We may need to wait until after April 15th to meet. I am writing this at the end of March and I think we still have at least 100 returns to prepare between now and April 15th so things are busy but we would love to hear from you if the thought of working with us is exciting to you.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and come along on this entrepreneurial journey together.
